Wooden box

This wooden box is turned from hornbeam wood, a very hard species and the heaviest of all species native to central Europe. The turner's outstanding technical skills produce thin, almost light-weight wooden objects. A gap between the lid and the box gives the impression that the lid is almost floating. The box can be closed, thanks to the precise work of the turner, and opened again by moving the lid back and forth. 
The light-coloured wood with its fine structure does not dominate its surroundings, yet the box will not go unnoticed. Use in the kitchen for storing spices, tea or cereals or as a box to store jewellery or other valuables. 
Available in two different sizes. 
Turned by hand in Switzerland from Swiss wood.
